Effects on Birth Outcome: shorter labor, fewer complications, reduced cesarean rate, fewer pitocin inductions & augmentations, fewer forceps assisted deliveries, fewer requests for pain medication & epidurals
Effects on Mother: greater sense of satisfaction with childbirth experience, more positive assessments of babies, fewer incidences of postpartum depression
Effects on Baby: shorter hospital stays, fewer special care nursery admissions, greater ease with breastfeeding, mothers are more affectionate with babies
Effects on Health Care System: drastic reduction in cost of obstetric care, consumer satisfaction with personalized care
